Maxthon Vs Firefox.

Firefox and Maxthon is just a Browser engine rather than using for browsing, but definetley Maxthon is much better than Firefox.

Maxthon start more quickly: I did not mean that it is faster, because the IMO in the preparation of the page as fast as they are. But Firefox is killing me when I click its icon to start it. It takes too long to start. Maxthon is a very fast on this. Actually this is not the fault of Firefox, because Microsoft's IE engine is loaded into memory in the Windows start-up and travel from the use of the engine, and its start-up time is incredibly fast. However, Firefox has to load all. DLL's and libraries so the memory from the ground to spend a lot of time to start. Even if it is not Firefox's fault, I am an experienced user such as a delay, so I have my rights, do not like it anyway! I suggest Firefox development of discrete event systems to restart Firefox will cache the relevant library and DLL in the Windows startup. Prior to this, Firefox was a major negative for me.
The use of the two browsers are very carefully designed pluggins, in order to strengthen its capacity. I think more than Firefox Maxthon pluggins the pluggins and they are good in writing. However, Firefox's pluggins IMO more interference, not so fast on the performance. I do not like the Firefox update check every time you start (which is slow enough!) And I found less pluggins Maxthon interfering and faster.

As for configuration, Maxthon is the future direction. This is the incredible variety of ways of custom, you can imagine and in fact this is why I like it. Firefox is also very good, but not as good as in custom travel. Just select your browser's option in two pages, you will be very surprised at the number of configuration options to provide travel.


I used both browsers, but Maxthon is still my favorite.

Maxthon browser in China

CNET has a story about the Maxthon browser, which is a modification to Microsoft Internet explorer that provides features like tabbed browsing, ad filtering and, most interesting for China users, the ability to use proxy servers more easily. It was formerly known as MyIE2, and was a simple mod to MSIE. Competition/innovation in the Web browser space is a good thing.
I’m a bit dubious about this claim however:
According to Maxthon research, about 14 percent of the Chinese Web population has used the browser and 17 percent employs it for Web search.
Any stats from “Maxthon research” cannot really be taken at face value. Any China users care to comment on how widespread the browser is in the PRC, or whether you’ve used it yourself?

Maxthon – The most popular browser in China

Flock, a Firefox-based Web browser that plays up social networking online, has raised $15 million in a fourth round of funding led by Fidelity Ventures. The company's previous investors, Bessemer Venture Partners, Catamount Ventures, and Shasta Ventures, also participated in the round.

The deal shows continued faith in the alternative market for Web browsers, beyond the dominant Internet Explorer. Alternative-browser rival Maxthon, for example, has been downloaded more than 140 million times; and it's one of the most popular browsers in China. The Beijing-based company has pulled in investments from Charles River Ventures and Google.

The company plans to use the funds to expand its research and development, marketing, and global expansion efforts. To date, the company has raised an estimated $30 million.

Maxthon (formerly known as MyIE) is a browser that reportedly has 30% of the browser market in its home country of China, second only to IE and ahead of Firefox. It is a powerful tabbed, fully customizable and 100% free Internet browser built on top of Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) platform. The milestone Maxthon 2.0 beta was released early last month. We carried out an in-depth interview with SVP & Partner at Maxthon Netanel Jacobsson (former Business Development Director at AOL/ICQ), who told us the full story of this exciting browser and its bid for global success.



The History of Maxthon

The interview starts with a bit of history about Maxthon, a browser generally not well known in the Western world. Netanel said that MyIE was originally created by a Chinese man called Changyou, who wanted to customize his IE browser. MyIE became the first browser to support tabbed browsing. Changyou posted most of the code onto his BBS, but unexpectedly left the project due to personal reasons in 2000. Luckily, one of his admirers Jeff Chen decided to continue the development and released a new version with the name MyIE2. MyIE2 grew very fast, with massive contributions from passionate users all over the world. They communicated via BBS, Forums and IM - and helped on developing the plugins, sites, skins, debugging, etc.’

Google invests in Maxthon

Multiple sources are confirming that the Chinese/Israeli startup behind the Maxthon Browser has sold a minority stake to Google. The total investment size is rumored to be around $1 million. We are also hearing that this investment is part of a “much larger strategic deal” between the two companies.

Maxthon has had over 80 million downloads of its browser, and over half of its users are in China. Maxthon-originated searches may account for up to 25% of total Baidu traffic, according to one source. At the very least we expect the strategic deal to involve replacing the default search option in the browser from the Baidu search engine in China and Yahoo in other countries with Google search. The deal may also go beyond search and involve integration with other Google services directly into the browser. Maxthon would then be promoted on Google as a preferred browser. The deal was apparently done at least two months ago, but the companies have delayed releasing the news. We’ve contacted Netanel Jacobsson at Maxthon about this story, but he has declined to comment. We also have an email into Google PR for comment.



Maxthon has raised less than $6 million prior to this investment. Seed financing came from Morten Lund and WI Harper in March 2005, and CRV invested around $5 million in the company in March 2006.
